“Every day, thousands of primary care providers head to the front lines of healthcare in Canada. They’re by our sides for moments big and small, and motivated by a singular vision. To help everyone lead happier, healthier lives.”
We are so proud to premiere this suite of healthcare videos supporting the public launch of the David Braley Primary Care Research Collaborative. An incubator, focussed on advancing and strengthening primary care in Canada.
Beginning with the story of the incubator itself and following up with five more, we drew a rich picture of the DBPCRC and its research goals. Through multiple layers of live-action footage, music, voiceover and animation we illustrated their mandate – to improve the lives of Canadians through better delivery and implementation of care. Each video was crafted in collaboration with the public relations team at the McMaster Department of Family Medicine,
Thanks to everyone at McMaster’s DFM for allowing us the opportunity to expand your story! We are honoured to capture the work of this inspiring group of people, pushing toward a brighter world for us all. 50th anniversary documentary launch for McMaster University
McMaster University’s Medical School is a world-renowned hub for ground-breaking research and cutting-edge education techniques. They are also our long-time partners.
Because we have worked together so often over the years, we’re familiar with the kinds of stories they want to tell and we’re comfortable with the messages they try to convey. There’s a mutual trust there, built over countless hours of working together.
So when McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences approached us to put together a project commemorating the 50th anniversary of their medical school, we had to deliver a product worthy of a golden anniversary.
Mixing engaging interviews of past and current leaders with fantastic archival footage, we crafted a short documentary that told the story of McMaster’s School of Medicine, from humble beginnings to their bright future.
All that hard work really paid off. The result is a personal account of the medical school’s story, from the people who brought it to life and keep it thriving today.
Take a look at our short film below, which premiered at their 50th Anniversary Gala last week.
Happy anniversary, McMaster! We can’t wait to see what our next collaboration will bring!
This week we went international! Thrilled to announce that both Deloitte Global (Deloitte.com) and Deloitte Canada have officially launched the commercial series we produced.
These bite-sized overviews of Deloitte’s accounting services are used as an introduction to new and current clients, helping CEO’s & CFO’s get the most out of their bottom line.

While the subject manner is dense – audit & assurance – we kept the tone light using humourous intros to pull the viewer in, and high production values to keep them there. Utilizing animation, VFX overlays, actors, props, a snappy soundtrack and professional voice over, these pieces stand above the crowd and entice the audience to learn more about everything Deloitte has to offer.
We had a blast producing this series and are thrilled to add Deloitte to our happy list of clients!
Clients come to us for all sorts of different reasons when they’re considering adding video to their online presence. In the case of Sim Kalsi, owner of RSK Automotive it was a brand rethink and refresh that set the wheels in motion. And as it turns out – he had quite the story to tell.
RSK has called Hamilton home for 6 years. Their new tagline “Built By Hamilton” speaks volumes of their dedication to the people of #HamOnt. With a long family history in local automotive repair, Sim has built a reliable and trusted brand featuring a team of skilled technicians with a passion for the steel city.
With a strong narrative lead by the team at RSK paired with glowing customer testimonials from some seriously happy folks in the neighbourhood, Double Barrel Studios put together one of our signature business profile documentaries, highlighting their many unique offerings. RSK truly stands out as a friendly neighbourhood auto body shop providing fair and accurate estimates and excellent customer service.
Thanks for letting us expand your story Sim!
When you’re a national brokerage with teams in hundreds of Canadian cities, how do you even begin to capture the spirit of the hard working brokers representing your brand? In the case of INVIS/Mortgage Intelligence, the answer was simple. You go to them. With a camera crew in tow.
Over the summer of 2016, the Double Barrel team was thrilled to film across Canada, documenting the passion and the people behind the INVIS/Mortgage Intelligence brand. In one of our most ambitious documentary projects to-date, we filmed in six provinces and seven cities, capturing the camaraderie that makes INVIS/MI truly unique. From wineries in Kelowna, to line dancing at the Calgary Stampede, from charity golf tournaments in Niagara to boat cruises off the Halifax harbour. Through it all, what stood out the most was an overwhelming sense of community and caring. Brokers that truly care for their clients, and each other, working exceedingly hard to ensure their happiness.
Double Barrel is thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Invis/Mortgage Intelligence, documenting this beautiful country and their world class teams from coast to coast to coast.
This completed piece screened at the INVIS/MI annual gathering, to rave reviews. And it’s easy to see why! Invis Mortgage Intelligence has successfully built the only true full service brokerage in Canada, attracting top brokers that are continually diversifying and developing their craft to deliver the best support possible. That’s something to cheer about.
Hamilton Code Clubs is a trail-blazing program that sees industry mentors introduce local youth to simple software computer programming, through a blend of interactive and hands-on training. The ultimate goal is to teach students to develop a love for the subject and begin integrating code into the classroom in a fun and engaging manner.
For many students, this introduction can open up career pathways and 21st-century learning skills.
With the tech industry in Canada expanding at a breakneck pace, Hamilton Code Clubs represents a critical link between the classroom and the real world, with mentors working to spark an interest in our youth and develop our next generation tech workforce.
At Double Barrel, we know the importance of a solid education in digital literacy for our youth. That’s why in 2015, we worked to create the #HamOnt Forever Digital Literacy fund, a Hamilton Community Foundation administered fund that will distribute grants over the next 15 years for digital literacy initiatives in the Hamilton area.
This year, we are proud to continue that legacy by providing an amazing organization like the Hamilton Code Club with this recruitment video free-of-charge, to inspire the tech community to continue to grow and help ensure that kids are realizing the amazing career opportunities around coding at a young age.
If you’re in the software industry and keen to help out, you’re in luck! They’re in need of volunteers! If you’re interested in volunteering for Hamilton Code Clubs, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
“Healthcare challenges are one of the biggest problems facing today’s society”
McMaster University is transforming these healthcare challenges into new learning experiences. Bringing the Health Sciences and Engineering faculties together, into a hands-on, project based 5-year program – the new Integrated Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences Program.
“Biomedical problems are very complex. There is the human element and the technological element and in order to solve these types of complex problems you need experts of many different areas of study and many different backgrounds, this program is going to produce such graduates.” – Colin McDonald, Assistant Professor, McMaster University
McMaster has a world class reputation in both health sciences and engineering. Consistently ranked internationally among the top 40 universities in the world for medicine and health sciences and rated one of the top ten engineering schools in Canada. At Double Barrel, we were thrilled and honored to help McMaster launch this groundbreaking program, which is the first of its kind in Canada!
“Double Barrel helped bring our vision to life. The team’s creativity and diligent work resulted in a stellar product that helped raise the profile of our new Integrated Biomedical and Health Sciences Program.” – Monique Beech, Manager, Public Relations, Faculty of Engineering, McMaster University
Anyone can film a video these days. So what separates an amateur from a professional? It’s something those of us in the industry like to call “production value.” And if you’re a business looking to establish credibility with your customers, it’s something you can’t do without.
Come along for our third episode of the Double Barrel Podcast, where we explore the topic of production value. What is it? How do you get it? And why do you and your brand need to make sure you have it for your next video project?
Recently Double Barrel Studios contributed our services to The Equestrian Association for the Disabled or T.E.A.D., an organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equestrian therapy.
T.E.A.D. was interested in producing a video that would convey the importance of T.E.A.D. and highlight the massive team of dedicated volunteers that help to keep this program running. This is a cause that we feel very passionate about and over the years the members of their team have become great friends of ours, so when they approached us we immediately got to work.
Our approach was to produce a vignette style video that would show the amazing things that T.E.A.D. does for disabled youth. During our time with T.E.A.D. our dedication to the project only grew as we learned how important this program is to the individuals and families involved. It takes over 200 volunteers per year to keep things moving, and to care for the specially trained horses that can remain gentle and calm in unpredictable environments.
After spending time at the farm, speaking with some of the riders and their families and the incredible team that run the organization, we couldn’t be happier to be launching this piece & we hope that it raises awareness to the cause.
If you’re interested in getting involved with T.E.A.D. you can give them a call at 905-679-8323 ext. 222 or visit their website at www.tead.on.ca
Hamilton is joining the conversation! We are well on our way to becoming a living wage city! We still have a long way to go but we’ve made significant progress & we are thrilled to be doing our part in spreading the word.
Double Barrel Studios is a proud living wage employer, as creatives it allows for our busy team of directors, producers, editors and writers to dedicate 100% of their efforts into providing the best experience when we work with our clients. When we heard that Living Wage Hamilton was looking to tell stories through the eyes of their local supporters, it only made sense for Double Barrel to jump aboard. We already share a passion for Living Wage & just like these other employers that we interviewed, we understand why it’s important and why it plays a vital role in the long term success of a company.
