Hamilton is a city in the midst of a renaissance. From its scrappy Steeltown roots to present day leadership in healthcare, cultural and entrepreneurial innovation. No one knows this better than the folks in charge of re-inventing and re-imagining the City’s image.
We met with Michael Marini in early October 2013. His goal was to produce a series of commercials on a tight budget that would work equally well across platforms – theatrical, television and web. We wanted to focus on each of Hamilton’s big ‘3’ – software, medical technology and creative entrepreneurship.
Armed with this information we approached our three stars – Dr. Mehran Anvari from the Centre for Surgical Innovation, Amy Gringhuis & Christopher Godwaldt from Cafe Oranje and Kevin Browne from Software Hamilton. Each piece had a different story to tell, but all three came together with the brand tagline “It’s Happening Here.”
It was our absolute pleasure to work with the City of Hamilton to just a few success stories – it’s what we love to do most. Having it premiere nationally on CHCH and in theatres all the way to Toronto – just a bonus. :)

Double Barrel is a firm advocate for #LRT in Hamilton, so when city staff asked us to create a video explaining their BLAST Network transit plan, we were thrilled to be involved. By 2041, 780,000 people will call Hamilton home. And as a city, we need a transit infrastructure that will support this booming population.
This piece – a combination of live action, interview and animated scenes – explains the rationale behind Hamilton’s transit network of the future – BLAST – and works to explain why it’s necessary for the growth of the city in the future.

We were thrilled to collaborate with The City of Hamilton on this video project, bringing their vision of the West Harbour’s future to life through the power of animation! Created from a mix of stock footage and animated watercolour treatments – this piece was meant to spur interest within the development community and generate proposals for the future of the waterfront in Hamilton.
This $140 million dollar redevelopment project will create a vibrant hub for community and more useable waterfront space for Hamiltonians. We were proud to be involved in envisioning the future for the City of Hamilton!

So when the City of Hamilton approached us to produce a series of broadcast commercial spots highlighting the lesser known lifestyle benefits of living in #HamOnt.. we were thrilled. Thrilled at the opportunity to show you the city through our eyes. From rural charms and outdoor adventures to world class restaurants, arts and culture – these spots are our homage to the city we call home.
We filmed these spots over three days in a variety of Hamilton hotspots – from James Street to Cootes Paradise and everywhere in between. Featured are local farms, fashion designers, fitness enthusiasts, chefs and their fanbase of foodies. Chances are good you know someone in each frame.
