In Uncertain Times, We’re Here to Help

Hi everyone,

Like all of you, we’re constantly monitoring the news around COVID-19. It has affected many parts of our normal, day-to-day life. Rather than business as usual, it has made us all think about how we can do business differently and how we might be able to help our clients do business differently.
Here at Double Barrel, we’re used to working remotely. Our projects have always been managed through a combination of phone, email, videoconference and online file sharing. So this is a space we know well. And with staff and customers more distant than before, communication is more important than ever. Sharing information with customers and with your staff might seem hard, but we can help.

Maybe your business has always been more of a terrestrial, storefront business and you’re looking to take it online to keep serving your customers. We can work with you on everything from a digital strategy, to designing, activating and maintaining a website that lets you keep doing what you do best.

Live action video shoots are on hold for the time being. But producing animated videos is right in our wheelhouse and can be done from a safe, remote workplace.

Or perhaps you’re finding it hard to get your social media messaging to stand out in a very crowded, news-heavy environment? We can help you build an impactful social media plan and engaging content to keep your products & services on your customers’ radar.

We know what you’re going through. We’re all in this together, navigating uncertain times when it comes to work and life. Reach out. Touch base. We’re only a quick email, phone call or Zoom conference away. And we’re happy to help.

Let’s all look forward to getting back to a more familiar routine. Until then, stay well!

Cheers,

Roz & the team

Project Launch: Team Unbreakable – 30 Second Spot

Team Unbreakable is a therapeutic teen running group operating out of Hamilton, Ontario. Their goal is simple: to decrease anxiety and depression among our teen population by providing access to a proven mood-booster: exercise! Running has been proven to decrease depression and anxiety by suppressing stress hormones, while boosting feel-good hormones like endorphins.

The Hamilton Family Health Team is looking to add to its roster of runners and volunteers for this program, and would like to spread the message to #HamOnt teens. If you or anyone you know would benefit from either volunteering or running with this amazing organization please reach out!

We are proud to say that this piece will be screening in clinics across the City of Hamilton. Thanks to the Hamilton Family Health Team for involving us in such a great project!

**This piece is an accessible, shortened and animated version of the longer three minute promotional video we produced back in 2016.**

Project Launch: City of Hamilton West Harbour Redevelopment Video

“The West Harbour is what first attracted the world to our shores, but we’ve come a long way since then. Introducing the next chapter of the Hamilton West Harbour story!”

We were thrilled to collaborate with the City of Hamilton on this video project, bringing their vision of the West Harbour’s future to life through the power of animation! This $140 million dollar redevelopment project will create a vibrant hub for community and more useable waterfront space for Hamiltonians.

PROJECT LAUNCH: McMaster University

Engineering is the invisible thread that holds so much of our day-to-day lives together. And when it comes to getting teens excited about a STEM career – it pays to reveal just a bit of the science behind their everyday experiences.

We set out in October of 2014 to create a 30 second broadcast commercial that did just that. Using skateboarding as our metaphor – and an extreme slow motion camera – we aimed to capture the forces of friction, momentum and gravity.

The end result is something we’re all so proud of. Screened in theatres from Hamilton to Toronto (in IMAX no less!) and also in Calgary, we hear this piece is on its way to theatres in Hong Kong!

Many thanks to our amazing crew, as always. Shot in slow-mo by Ty Tekatch and Christoph Benfey, with animation assistance from Antenna Visual Communication. Edited by Taylor Heres. Starring skateboarding superstar Alishia Stevens, and Hamilton’s own Arts Awards nominee, Alyssa Nedich. Many thanks to New Line Skateparks for allowing us to shoot at their construction site in Oshweken, Ontario!!

City of Burlington Launches New Double Barrel Studios Animation

Team Double Barrel is excited to announce the LAUNCH of a new online animation we produced for our fabulous friends over at the City of Burlington.

Our challenge… how do you make municipal government financial management interesting??

Produced and directed in beloved RSA Animate style, this quick video was the creative collaboration of a rockstar team. Sketched by Pamela Hubbard, written by Wayne MacPhail, voiced by Paul Benedetti & animated by Louis Wesolowsky, we filmed the entire sequence against a whiteboard in our new studio space on King William. From there, iPad sketches were incorporated to make certain frames really POP. We’re thrilled with the results. And we think Burlington residents will be, too.
