Service Commercial Series

Running a business isn’t for the faint of heart – any entrepreneur can tell you that. And when the going gets tough, Deloitte Canada is often a CEO’s first stop for advice and assistance with obstacles that are standing in the way of success.

Over the past year we’ve worked with Deloitte’s Toronto-based team, creating a short & snappy suite of commercials that highlight their service offerings. They’ve officially launched and we’re so thrilled to finally be able to share them! Enjoy!

LGBTQ Healthcare

This mini-documentary examines the pressing need for LGBTQ healthcare strategy within the primary care setting. It explores the steps the Hamilton Family Health Team is taking to ensure its physicians and providers are well-educated and leading the charge. Produced for launch at the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario conference in October 2018.

Digital Careers Campaign

Bite-sized employment stories we created for Prince Edward County & Career Edge PEC  as part of their recent workforce recruitment campaign. Meet Travis Benson, Master Electrician for Port Picton Homes, Justine Pitcher from Yeeboo Digital, Katrina Penzwell from Tire Wizard, and Laura Irwin from Sage Design and Construction  – all local talented craftspeople proving that you CAN have it all, right here in #TheCounty.

From The Garden Shed : Hosted How-To Series

For the past two years, Double Barrel has partnered with Premier Tech Home and Garden to bring you ‘From the Garden Shed’ ~ a bite-sized branded content series featuring Canada’s top gardening experts Mark Cullen (‘The New Canadian Garden’), Owen Reeves (Marilyn Denis Show)  & Albert Mondor (Le Tour du Jardin).

This first series of 16 videos cover a vast range of topics ranging from de-weeding and spreading seed, to growing grass, herbs, vegetables and flowers throughout the different seasons. It was fun learning these proven tips and tricks directly from the pros!

As Canada’s leading manufacturer of consumer lawn & garden products ~ Premier Tech Home & Garden has a robust annual video strategy. Each video was produced in French and English, with 1 minute and 30 second versions for social media.

We were thrilled to assist them with the creation of these English and French instructional videos to support their online learners as they navigate the OntarioLearn interface.

Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign PSA

Every once and a while a project comes along that allows us to pull out all the creative stops. This awareness-raising piece we produced for Hamilton Public Health starred some amazing Canadian comedy talent – Deborah Kimmett Diana Frances Lisa Merchant & Deborah Jarvis  and screened in theatres across the greater Hamilton area. Proof that tickling the funny bone produces fantastic results!

Company Documentary

Double Barrel was excited to assist BraveNewCode in developing a documentary piece that showcased the company and its history. Over the course of 4 minutes and 40 seconds, BNC founders Duane and Dale share stories and insights into the process of turning a small WordPress mobile software plugin (WPtouch) into an internationally-acclaimed, 11 million download and 30,000 customer success story.

Methodology

Technology is a tough sell at the best of times. Communique is often complex and heavily weighed down with overly scientific jargon. We decided to lead with the personal story of BraveNewCode, and let the launch of WPtouch Pro 3 simmer on the site in the background. For customers who were inclined to learn more about WPtouch Pro 3 after discovering the team, there was supplementary documentation and an accompanying 30 second animation on the BNC website.

By implementing a documentary style, the client was able to put a human face on what is so often a faceless industry. Introducing themselves as people first allows customers to identify with the team, which in turn increases loyalty.  BraveNewCode was clear on the tone of their messaging – they wanted a video that would reflect their commitment to their product and customers, while providing a glimpse into their friendly, relaxed corporate culture. Music choices were careful and deliberate. A combination of cello, piano and smooth jazz evoked exactly the tone we needed: intellectual, stylistic and smart but still fun and playful.  Filming on location in Hamilton-area coffee shops reflects the working style of its founders and also the way people interact with WPtouch – on the go, working in a pleasant environment where they are networking with people in real life as well as on the internet.

Startup Vignette

iDeaWORKS is a Mohawk College incubation space for the tech, medical and advanced manufacturing sectors. To promote the iDeaWORKS program, Double Barrel was commissioned to produce four videos; one program overview video and three vignettes that focussed on businesses who have used the services iDeaWORKS provides.

iDeaWORKS is a research and innovation centre, where Mohawk staff, students and faculty collaborate with industry partners to research, design, develop, test, and commercialize new products and technologies. Projects span a range of sectors, but specialize in three areas: eHealth and mHealth, Energy Technologies, and Advanced Materials.

To tell the story of this wide ranging organization we interviewed faculty leaders, students and mentor businesses, combining a documentary style approach with a broadcast journalism sensibility.
By incorporating vignette style stories of companies and students who are utilizing the iDeaWORKS program, we were able to reach out to multiple potential audiences – government funders, businesses and students alike. The end result was four fantastic pieces that successfully highlighted the great work iDeaWORKS is doing in a fast-paced, entertaining way.

We were thrilled to be a part of this project – thanks to Mohawk College for bringing us on board!
